here's a fun Emerald story:
I was making my way through the Battle Dome (i think that's what it was) and got through several rounds. Then one opponent sent out an Espeon as his 2nd or 3rd pokemon. My CB Slaking was fairly healthy (80%-90% or so), my Gengar was at full health, and my Regice was at aboout 60% or 70%. Regice is out, so i figure I can finish it off with a few Ice Beams and not risk sending out Slaking into a 2 STAB Psychics... The AI obviously had other plans.. CH Psychic takes out Regice, immediately followed by another CH Psychic to take out Slaking.. and Gengar was outsped(!) and taken out with ease.. It must've been a +Spd nature Espeon since Gengar was Modest with 252 Speed Evs and a decent Speed IV.. either that or it had a Quick Claw, although that seems a bit pointless on a pokemon with 110 base Speed...lol
